The Allies were the (military) alliance in the Second World War between France, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, the USA and other countries against the alliance of the Axis Powers of Germany, Japan and Italy. After the Second World War, the four major victorious Allies each controlled a sector of Germany until 1949.
